Welcome Home!
Saturday’s annual Ride for Angels could
not have had a better day for a fall motorcycle ride! The weather was great with the clouds and rain holding off and a beautiful
blue sky greeting us at registration on Saturday morning. We are so blessed to have such a great group of riders come together
for a worthy cause. Saturday morning 84 riders came out to have a good time, ride their motorcycles, eat some great food and
enjoy some of the best entertainment you can find anywhere! Our ride took us
into the hills of Tennessee, the perfect sitting to enjoy a great fall day. The day went as planned except for a 80 pound
or so black bear that tried to spoil the fun. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing the bears in the hills….. just
not from the seat of my motorcycle while at speed. Thankfully no one ran over the little guy.
I want to thank everyone that helped out with
the stops along our ride. Webb’s store, Jett Market and Riders Resort all welcomed us with open arms and allowed use
of their facilities. Everyone was more than willing to help out and it is very much appreciated! When the riders returned
to Hi Country Events in Blue Ridge, Gene from Longhorn had the grill smoking and went on to feed us some of the best food
you will ever find at a motorcycle event! Great job Gene! Don’t tell anyone but he says he is going to feed us steaks
next year, if word gets out we may not be able to control the crowd. And what a beautiful site to have a party! Shea and Angie
really went all out to provide us all with the best experience you can possible have. Don’t forget Hi Country Events
when you need to throw a party, call Shea and she will hook you up!
Jack Morton had his hands full giving out all
the prizes. There are too many to mention here but a big thank you goes out to all the businesses that contributed to the
prize locker! At 6:00 PM The Buckner Brothers Band took the stage and what a show they put on for us. A good portion of our
riders called it a day early as the fall evening air set in. The fire pit was a popular place as the evening went on but hey,
that is what the fall is all about for me! For those of you that packed it in, you just don’t know what you missed.
The show was AWSOME! We are definitely going to have them back again.
All in all a very successful day! Thanks again
if you contributed in any way! But our work is not done, in this economy there will be a greater need than ever before. The
Empty Stocking Fund budget is still quite a way from being where it needs to be as we enter the 2009 Holiday Season. It is
not too late to help with your contribution.
We look forward to seeing you down the road.
Till then ride safe!
